The Role
We are currently representing a client seeking an experienced LLM Engineer to join their team. This hybrid role is ideally based in Montreal, but remote options are available for the right candidate. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of an advanced AI framework, where hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies is essential. The ideal candidate will have practical expertise in GPU development, modern ML frameworks, and production-level coding, alongside a solid understanding of LLMs and transformer models.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test the AI framework using high-performance hardware (GPGPU/multicore CPU) and software technologies.
- Explore and integrate emerging technologies to optimize the AI products.
- Work with cross-functional teams to translate advanced processes into production-ready software.
- Optimize and write production-level code for seamless integration within internal pipelines.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and guidance within the team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends in machine learning and contribute insights to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in AI/ML development with a strong focus on production-level coding.
- Expertise in Python, with significant experience in inference, PyTorch, and CUDA for GPU development.
- A solid understanding of LLMs, including their lifecycle, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) processes, and internal data handling.
- Experience in ML infrastructure, including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, and debugging.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices like Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and secure coding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building LLM-powered agents with reasoning, memory retention, and task planning capabilities.
- Familiarity with LangChain, AutoGPT, or smolagents libraries.
- Experience in designing AI agents for task automation, knowledge retrieval, and workflow orchestration.
- Understanding of multi-agent collaboration, debate-style LLM interactions, and reinforcement learning-based agent optimization.
- Exposure to Generative AI for code generation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with profiling tools like PyTorch Profiler or CUDA events/timing to optimize model execution.
- Proficiency in model optimization using frameworks such as ONNX, TensorRT, or torch.compile.
- Familiarity with AMD hardware and optimizing models for ROCm, HIP, and AMD GPUs.
