The Role

This Business Development Manager - Defense role is an exciting opportunity to drive strategic growth across The Americas, with a focus on expanding the client’s presence in the defense sector. The position will begin remotely, transitioning to a hybrid model based in Washington, DC. This pivotal role involves identifying key opportunities, cultivating relationships within the defense industry, and delivering impactful solutions to both new and existing customers.


The Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Market Development:
  • Identify defense opportunities and large-scale programs relevant to the company’s portfolio.
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders in the U.S. Military and global defense primes, including decision-makers and influencers.
  • Research and identify certifications and program deliverables essential for success in the defense market.
  • Sales & Strategic Growth:
  • Drive revenue growth by acquiring new customers, expanding existing accounts, and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Own the sales process end-to-end, from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Present the company’s solutions through compelling ROI and qualitative value propositions.
  • Collaboration & Execution:
  • Work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and internal teams to align with the company’s Go-To-Market strategies.
  • Partner with marketing, operations, and product teams to refine and accelerate growth plans.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and CRM updates in Salesforce.
  • Operational Excellence & Values:
  • Immerse in the company culture to understand how all teams contribute to strategic goals.
  • Advocate for safety and ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.


The Requirements

Candidates should bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • Education: A tertiary qualification in a related technical field is required.
  • Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in the defense industry within The Americas.
  • Proven track record in business development, sales, and account management for high-tech solutions in defense verticals such as aerospace, robotics, and maritime.
  • Familiarity with navigating global, collaborative environments and working across time zones.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50%.
  • Skills & Expertise:
  • Technical knowledge in areas such as inertial sensors, acoustics, GNSS, optical sensors, and robotics.
  • Strong CRM proficiency, particularly with Salesforce.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Adaptability to dynamic environments and multicultural teams.
