The Role:
They are looking for a highly skilled Kinematic Engineer specializing in kinematics and joint design to join their Toronto-based team in a full-time, on-site capacity. This role is critical in developing and optimizing mechanical systems for a next-generation robotic arm integral to their smart home solutions. Responsibilities focus on the design, analysis, and integration of precise motion systems, including linkages and joints, to achieve innovative, reliable, and seamless motion capabilities. Collaboration with electrical and software engineers will be essential to delivering a robust, high-quality product.
Requirements:
- Kinematics and Mechanism Design: Expert knowledge of motion systems, linkage mechanisms, and joint design for precision motion.
- Mechanical Design Engineering: Advanced skills in designing mechanical systems using CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Prototyping and Testing: Proficiency in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and performing mechanical tests to ensure performance and durability.
- Manufacturing Engineering: Hands-on experience in optimizing designs for manufacturability and overseeing end-to-end production processes.
- Education: PhD in Mechanical Design Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field. Additional certifications are a bonus.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Robotics: Practical knowledge of actuator integration and control systems for robotic mechanisms.
- Simulation Tools: Familiarity with kinematic analysis tools or programming languages like Python or MATLAB for motion simulation.
- Environmental Sensing Integration: Basic understanding of integrating sensors into mechanical systems.
- Thermal Management: Expertise in designing cooling solutions and managing thermal loads for robotic and electronic components.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for robotic arm solutions, with a focus on kinematic and joint optimization.
- Innovate motion systems to enable precise, efficient, and smooth operations within smart home devices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting processes to refine and validate robotic designs.
