Lead Gameplay Programmer | AAA Gaming | People Management | Quebec (Remote) | $230k - $270k + Bonus (10%)

This dynamic and innovative game development studio is seeking an experienced Senior Gameplay Programmer. This studio is dedicated to crafting captivating open-world experiences with a medieval fantasy theme, driven by strategic gameplay and rich storytelling. The Role
They are searching for a skilled Lead Programmer to guide a team through the full development cycle, from the final stages of conception to production, on an exciting new IP. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and AAA experience in both PC and Console gaming. With a team of 12, this role will have you managing people and strategy far more than coding. The position is open to candidates based in Quebec or those willing to relocate, with the flexibility to work 100% remotely from within the province. Expert proficiency in French and English is required for effective team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of programmers throughout all stages of development.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the programming team.
- Prototype and implement new gameplay mechanics and features swiftly and effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a multidisciplinary environment to drive content development.
- Actively contribute to game development, including writing code, fixing bugs, and optimizing performance.
- Coordinate with the Technical Director to prioritize tasks and balance team workload.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with team members through team meetings and one-on-ones.
- Optimize gameplay systems for performance and scalability across platforms.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in the game industry, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role and experience on shipped AAA titles.
- Expertise in Unreal Engine (preferably 5.X) and version control systems like Perforce or Git.
- Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills.
- Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA for task management.
- Proven experience with open-world, single-player games.
- Expert proficiency in French and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with excellent collaboration skills across creative and technical teams.
- Passion for video games and a drive to create engaging gameplay experiences.
