The Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This individual will play a pivotal role in creating and refining mechanical systems, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and manufacturability standards. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and industrial design engineers, to bring innovative products to life. From concept development to final prototyping and testing, this is a dynamic position that offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects.

Requirements

• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or SolidWorks Simulation. More important for this side
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, tolerances, and materials, including plastics, metals, and composites. Need this
• Familiarity with prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, injection molding, and machining.
• Expertise in manufacturing processes such as injection molding, casting, stamping, and CNC machining.

Responsibilities

Concept Development and Design:

• Develop concepts, models, and detailed designs for mechanical systems, assemblies, and components using advanced CAD tools.
• Prepare 2D and 3D drawings, technical documentation, and specifications to guide manufacturing processes.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly, ensuring cost efficiency.

Prototyping and Testing:

• Work alongside prototyping teams to fabricate and assess mechanical designs.
• Conduct physical testing to evaluate structural integrity, thermal performance, vibration resistance, and overall functionality.
• Refine designs through iterative improvements based on testing outcomes.

Simulation and Analysis:

• Perform detailed analyses, including FEA, thermal, and stress/strain evaluations, to validate and optimize designs.
• Leverage advanced simulation tools to ensure product reliability and performance.

Collaboration: 

• Coordinate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Partner with industrial designers to balance aesthetic and ergonomic considerations with functional requirements.
• Support AI/robotics teams by integrating mechanical components into functional systems.

Material Selection and Sourcing:

• Identify and select suitable materials based on performance, cost, weight, and environmental impact.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure high-quality components that meet design and budget requirements.
