The Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mechanism Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This position focuses on creating, optimizing, and implementing complex mechanical systems that involve motion, precision articulation, and dynamic interaction. The engineer will work in close collaboration with designers, engineers from various disciplines, and manufacturing partners to deliver robust, efficient, and manufacturable mechanical solutions for their advanced robotic systems. The primary focus will be on developing mechanisms for robotic components such as shoulders, arms, and legs.
Requirements
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following:
- A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Demonstrated expertise in mechanism design, including components like gears, linkages, cams, pulleys, hinges, and actuators.
- A deep understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and mechanical motion analysis.
- Experience optimizing mechanical systems for manufacturability and assembly.
- Proficiency with prototyping tools such as 3D printing and machining and mechanical testing methodologies.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanism Design Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop innovative mechanisms, including linkages, gears, cams, actuators, and assemblies for robotic applications.
- Create kinematic and dynamic models to assess movement, load transfer, and range of motion.
- Conduct motion, force, and stress analyses to ensure performance under real-world conditions.
- Optimize designs for efficiency, durability, and ease of manufacturability.
- Perform kinematic and dynamic simulations to predict motion paths, velocities, forces, and potential failure points.
- Collaborate closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to achieve functional and high-performing mechanical systems
