The Role:

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Toronto for an Industrial Designer. In this role, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing and designing smart home robotics that merge beauty, functionality, and cutting-edge technology. Your work will involve developing designs that answer every detail, from form and usability to material finishes and manufacturing processes. You'll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers and software developers, to deliver visually stunning and highly functional products. This position calls for a designer who is not only creative but also deeply technical, capable of understanding manufacturing nuances to create products that stand out in the market.

Requirements:

• Industrial Design: Proven experience in designing consumer products, balancing aesthetics with functionality.
• 3D Modeling: Proficiency in tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 for detailed and precise design work.
• Material Finishing: Expertise in selecting and applying finishes for consumer electronics, including plastics, metals, and composites.
• Manufacturing Processes: In-depth knowledge of techniques like injection molding, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing.
• UI/UX Design: Experience creating intuitive user interfaces and enhancing user interactions through thoughtful design.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field is required.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with prototyping techniques, including 3D printing and model-making.
• A background in robotics or experience designing robotic systems.
• A design approach inspired by the work of Jony Ive or similar industry icons, showcasing an ability to deliver simple yet groundbreaking designs.
